Not my hair, but how I wish it were!

Pretty little bloom.

Homemade bunting.

Rose 'Remember Me'.

A definite sign of summer.

Old geranium.

A heart, made with love.

Everlasting sweet peas, going for Britain.

Pretty salt, bought this week...... thought it was Himalayan....didn't look at the label properly...berk!

Sweet pea 'Mammoth'.

Frozen dog treats.

This years first water lily.

Amazing sunsets.

M came back down to stay for a couple of days and also to attend Party at the Parrett.  The pretty pink hair is a temporary dye.  I think its fab!  Oh to be young. It got me thinking 'pink'.

That beautiful rose only goes that colour just before it goes over.  Bought in memory of my late Mum. It's the fourth anniversary of losing her, this 4th July.  She loved roses.

The bunting was made by M years ago for her first craft fair and I bought some.  It brightens up the gazebo and makes it feel summery, as do flip flops!

Our oldest geranium, the only one we've managed to save each year, still going on, if slightly smaller every year it survives.

A Fimo heart, made by M for mother's day when she was still at school. It hangs on the  larder cupboard, where I can see it every day. It makes me smile.

Everlasting sweet pea, comes back every year and I do believe this year will probably be it's best.

This salt has a lovely taste. I've discovered how different salts can taste in recent years...yes, I'm a little bit sad.

One of the Mammoth sweat peas, the smelliest in fact.  Each colour has a slightly different scent, and some, the darker ones, don't have any.  You can see a pattern here can't you..tasting salts, sniffing individual flowers for scent...I need to get out more!

As the dogs have been finding the heat difficult too, I made them some 'lollies' and they LoVeD them!  So easy too.  I had nine silicone muffin moulds, so used nine heaped dessert spoons of plain Greek yogurt, one mashed banana and one heaped tablespoon of peanut butter (make sure it doesn't contain Xylitol - it's toxic to pets). Put everything in a bowl, mix and then spoon into the moulds. You could use ice cube trays too, whatever mould you can find really, but do let them melt a bit before serving. You can also adjust all of the ingredients to suite your taste, and then have one yourself!

Pearl, delicately licking and nibbling her lolly

Elsie, little greedy guts, attacking hers full on!

We now have water lilies in the pond.  Unfortunately, the leaves had grown enormous and taken over our small pond, so Mr. did a bit of pruning. Hope it doesn't affect the flowers.

We have had some truly stunning sunsets this past week, glorious colours that make you just stand and stare until they fade away.

We've been sitting in the garden most evenings, watching the robins that had nested in one of the niches in the wall.  Mum and Dad have been so busy bringing in all manner of goodies for the chicks.  We tried to snap them, but every time, they eluded us.  On Sunday evening, they appeared to have vanished, so we concluded the chicks had probably fledged. Mr. snuck up for a peek, not too close,  but couldn't see or hear anything. Fingers crossed that all the young survived.

I've been feeling a bit like the wicked witch of the west  from The Wizard of Oz this past week, you know the scene where she's screaming  'I'm melting, melting!' Gawd, it's so hot here.  The stone walls of our cottage are a good 18" thick, which helps to keep it cool inside, but I have lain prostrate on the quarry tiles more than once this week, it's just so cool down there. Getting up from the floor had to be done very cautiously as I've been having spells of vertigo again. Looking up or over my shoulder makes it worse for some reason, so driving is on hold at the moment.

I have also just made a bit of a tit of myself commenting on Instagram to the lovely My Rose Valley, who posted about her beautiful daughter's graduation dress. Why is the backspace button so close to the Send button on my tablet? Didn't realise I was sending strange, incomplete messages, until I saw them on her page. Aaagh. She must think I'm a weirdo. Hey ho, that's my life with technology...it hates me and to be honest, I'm not a fan of it, but it's a necessary evil to be endured in order to function in our modern world.

All in all, a good week though.  Hope yours was too. Take care.

TULIPS,  SOURDOUGH,  MANDALAS...OH, AND SNOW! I cannot believe we are already almost halfway through February.....where did January go for goodness sake? I've been treating myself to tulips, for which I'm a bit of a sucker, with this delicious bunch reminding me of rhubarb and custard sweets f or some reason. My affection for tulips at this time of year stems from the fact that they don't elicit itchy watery eyes and snotty, sniffly noses, symptoms that daffodils do.  Having said that, I have some Tete a Tete in the kitchen that will be coming into flower soon, so better stock up on the tissues. This bunch also called to me.....well, you can't have too many can you? I thought how nice they would look with  some sort of matching doily underneath them and a mandala sprang to mind.  I chose to this pattern one for it's design and colour palette and it proved to be an easy little make. The photo does not show the true colours, quelle suprise, as the ligh
SPRING HAS SPRUNG! Windows and doors have been flung open in the last few days,  to let in the unusually warm air.  I'm breaking out my summer clothing already!  Can't last Mr says, as there is a cold snap coming.... what a happy little soul! We've  moved the bench to the top of the garden again, as the lengthening days mean the sun remains there the longest.  It was still light at 6.00pm yesterday and we made the most of it sitting watching the birds on the feeder,  robins,  great, tufted, blue and long tailed tits, sparrows, when suddenly a sparrow hawk swooped straight across the garden and sadly that was the last of the bird activity, as they all had the sense to stay hidden.  Last year a sparrow hawk did this, again right in front of us, but it took a bird, which although is only nature at its rawest,  was still quite shocking. It's much the same when we walk the dogs, with skylarks swooping about in pairs, performing what I imagine is their courting r
IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR Trying to summon up the Christmas spirit here.  I normally love this time of year, but I just can't muster any enthusiasm at the moment. I broke out the Christmas mugs and indulged in a frothy, cream topped latte...nothing. Mr put up some decorations and lit our little 'ting, ting', as I call it, to try and trigger my Christmas spirit. He put up one of the indoor Christmas trees, which I decorated, whilst sipping a snowball, which did raise the spirits somewhat. I just feel like my brain is in a fug and have for a couple of weeks now.  I even struggled when I met up with my girlfriends a couple of days ago last week, finding it hard to contribute to the conversation.  I'm putting it down to the time of year, but I've also not been looking after myself properly, I know that.  Back to the healthy, more probiotic diet I think, just till Christmas proper arrives and I have plenty of it in the house.  When I was eating p
