OVER ESTIMATING MY TALENTS
Holey Moley, I've certainly done that this Christmas. This bl**dy house elf is seriously doing my head in. I even had the Mr next to me counting my stitches because I was getting into such a tiswas! I've done the body (looks too small) and legs and I'm suffering serious doubts. When I started, I decided to tackle the ears as they looked the hardest. Yep, they were, so I set them aside. I have now set the whole blooming thing aside....before I chuck it on the fire. Just look at these legs, well the feet actually.....
...oh yes, the legs are supposed to be knobbly, but the feet should match. As I said, not happening.
I've had trouble sourcing the right colours for my slouchy hats and have had to compromise, but hey. As for monkey and giraffe.....not happening either. Do you know, life's just too short to get stressed, something I try to avidly avoid. The little kiddies these were meant for will get other gifts and maybe these in the New Year.
Now, we had decided to go to the Bridport Christmas Cheer last night with my Aunt A who lives there and loves to come with us. As we sat waiting for my sister to arrive (she was travelling down to Bridport with us) she phoned, for a chat! One thing she wanted me to know was that A had phoned her to say she was suffering a terrible migraine and wouldn't be coming to the festivities tonight. My sister told her not to worry, as it was happening tomorrow night. At this point I had to tell my sis that, no, it was tonight and that we were in fact awaiting her arrival. Yes, she'd put down the wrong date on the calendar and on top of that, she was dog sitting for her friend Chrissie and couldn't come. She was so disappointed.
We went anyway, as it is an annual custom now and the Mr has to have his hog roast bap with stuffing, crackling and apple sauce, followed by a glass of hot mulled cider.
There was a kiddies paper lantern procession. Yep, really hard to get a good shot of them.
The lighting up ceremony...
.... the tree was very disappointing, even our village tree puts it to shame.
Most of the action was in Bucky Doo Square (just love that name) where there were live bands, street food, mulled wine and cider stands and lots of other stalls. There were also stalls along the main street, but not as many as last year I fancy and not as many people either. I think the impending storm probably kept a few away.
We drove home with our Christmas cd blaring out, singing our hearts out, full of Christmas Cheer and roasted pork. Can't get better than that.
